Malyugin Ring System

6.25 Malyugin Ring

The 6.25mm Malyugin Ring is the most popular of MST’s two sizes of Malyugin Rings and is used to create pupils of 6.25mm in diameter.

7.0 Malyugin Ring

The 7.0mm Malyugin Ring is used to create pupils of 7.0mm in diameter and can be used if you prefer to operate through a larger pupil, or if you are treating an IFIS patient whose pupil dilates.

The Malyugin Ring® System offers a number of benefits, including:

  • Saves considerable time during placement and removal compared to other pupil expansion devices.
  • Is placed through the main incision (of 2.2mm or larger); this eliminates the need to make several extra paracentesis.
  • Provides eight points of fixation which results in a round pupil.
  • Is less likely to create damage to the iris sphincter.
  • Includes a disposable injector with each Ring which facilitates removal.
  • Doesn’t “tent” the Iris which reduces the chance of viscoelastic being trapped underneath it.

Phaco Tips

The MST family of phaco tips are available in sharp-edged, Dewey Radius™ and traditional styles, as well as reverse bevel versions:

  • MST/Packard 0.7mm A1 Phaco Tips (Designed for Ozil®)
  • MST 0.9 A1 Phaco tips (Designed for Ozil®)
  • MST 0.9 A1 Mini Phaco tips (Designed for Ozil®)
  • MST 0.9mm A1 Taper Phaco Tips (Designed for Ozil®)
  • MST/Packard 0.7mm Phaco Tips (Designed for AMO® and B&L® Machines)
  • MST 0.9 Phaco tips (Designed for AMO® and B&L® Machines)
  • MST 1.1 Mini Phaco tips (Designed for AMO® and B&L® Machines)
  • MST 1.1 Phaco tips (Designed for AMO® and B&L® Machines)

Coaxial I/A Systems

Intertip I/A:

MST’s most popular Coaxial I/A system, Intertip, has been one of the leading Coaxial I/A systems for almost 20 years. Intertip is available in two types: Intertip (which has a Stainess shell and Bayonette lock tips) and Intertip T (which has a Titanium Shell and push on on tips). Intertip offers many different tip styles to match your surgical preferences, as well as robust O’Rings which are designed to be more durable.

Soft I/A:

Soft I/A is MST’s silicone ported aspirator for cortical cleanup, capsule scrubbing, and much more. Available in straight, curved and 45 degree versions, the versatile Soft I/A can be utilized either in CoAxial I/A or BiManual I/A. Soft I/A’s design of a Titanium substructure under a silicone sheath, provides strong scrubbing force and the ability for you to push pieces into its port.

MST/Barrett V2™ I/A:

The MST/Barrett V2™ I/A is a second generation I/A device. First generation I/A devices were originally designed decades ago, prior to small incision cataract surgery, and took a “one size fits all incisions” approach. The MST/Barrett V2 design incorporates a small lumen and larger distal end.

Bimanual I/A System

MST’s Duet® BiManual system is world renowned for its breakthrough and to date, unsurpassed irrigation flow at a given bottle height and gauge size. Duet tips are available in 19,20, 21 and 22g (700 micron) sizes, and are removable from the handle so they can be easily replaced. Duet can be used for BiManual Phaco or simply as the best BiManual I/A system.

Forceps and Scissors

Hoffman Descemet’s Stripping Forceps:

The Hoffman Descemet’s stripping forceps, designed by Richard Hoffman, M.D. of Eugene Oregon, facilitate Descemet membrane stripping procedures and help position donor tissue. The tips are positioned up toward the cornea as is the cannula bend. The Ahmed/Hoffman 23g Horizontal Scissors are most often used to cut iris and suture. As a result of their tiny 0.6mm diameter (23g), they easily fit through a 0.8mm or larger paracentesis.

MST Micro-Holding Forceps:

The MST Micro-Holding forceps are specifically designed to hold IOLs while you cut them with the MST Packer/Chang IOL cutters. It is necessary to hold IOLs during cutting so that there is no forward movement or torquing while you cut. The MST Micro-Holding Forceps have teeth to provide you with a very firm grip on any foldable IOL and they are 23g so that they fit readily through a 0.8mm or larger paracentesis.

Packer/Chang IOL Cutters:

The Packer/Chang IOL cutters have re-defined what an IOL cutter should be, and offer you the following benefits:

  • Their Coaxial design doesn’t gape the wound, allowing viscoelastic to stay in the eye.
  • As they are low profile, the Packer/Chang IOL Cutters don’t distort the cornea, which gives you a clear view.
  • They offer unparalleled cutting. MST actually invented a new method of making scissors in order to cut acrylic IOLs without bending the blades. The Packer/Chang IOL Cutters can cut the hardest of Acrylics easily and repeatedly.

MST Capsulorhexis Forceps with Rhexis Ruler:

MST has collaborated with Howard Fine, Rich Hoffman and Barry Seibel to bring you the world’s best capsulorhexis forceps. When you use these capsulorhexis forceps you’ll note how much care went into them to help you create an. MST offers two types of capsulorhexis forceps in order to help you create an accurate capsulorhexis:

  • Unique Rhexis Ruler and Seibel Viewport (a port in the grasping tips to help you see where you are grasping).
  • With a Rhexis Ruler alone.

Both Rhexis forceps provide a number of benefits, including:

  • Coaxial design which doesn’t gape the wound, reducing viscoelastic egress.
  • Jaws that open wide to make a great pinch of the capsule.
  • Jaws that also close tight to the cannula end, which reduces the chance of catching Decemet’s when working close to the wound.
  • A ruler for which the lines are the whole numbers, and the bottoms of the numbers are the half millimeter mark.

Ahmed Micro-Tying Forceps:

The Ahmed Micro-Tying forceps were designed by Ike Ahmed, MD to facilitate the intraocular tying procedure that he developed. These forceps, like all of MST anterior segment forceps and scissors, are designed for the specific needs of anterior segment surgeons.

Ahmed/Hoffman Vertical Scissors:

The Ahmed/Hoffman Vertical Scissors are most often used to cut IOL haptics and have become a key surgical part of many physician’s complication correcting procedures.

Ahmed Micro-Graspers:

The Ahmed Micro-Graspers are great utility forceps that people love for grasping iris to perform PI’s and goniosynechialysis, and for grasping pupil margins for movement, and more.
