CompanyEllex designs, manufactures and markets a complete line of lasers and diagnostic ultrasound systems used by ophthalmologists to diagnose and treat eye disease. With more than 15,000 systems delivered to the market, Ellex has evolved since 1985 from a manufacturing company of primarily OEM products, to direct marketing of our own branded products through subsidiaries in the United States, Japan, Germany and Australia, and a network of distribution partners in more than 100 countries. In December 2006 Ellex acquired Innovative Imaging, a leading provider of diagnostic ultrasound systems for ophthalmology, initiating the expansion of our product line beyond lasers. The Ellex name has long been synonymous with excellence in technology, in quality, and in customer care. We maintain the highest quality standards through product development and manufacturing, and strive to provide unmatched levels of clinical expertise and support to our customers. All of these efforts have combined to produce one of the highest levels of customer satisfaction in the ophthalmic industry. Ellex maintains a strong emphasis on intellectual property and research into new and better treatments for ophthalmic disease. Among the company’s current research efforts is Ellex 2RT™ (Retinal Rejuvenation Therapy), a project that is focused on new treatments for diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. ProductsEllex manufactures and sells its own complete line of photodisruptors, photocoagulators, SLT systems and ultrasound systems for diagnosing and treating cataract, retina and glaucoma conditions. Photodisruption – Ophthalmologists perform a surgical procedure called laser capsulotomy to treat secondary cataracts – and more ophthalmologists use Ellex photodisruptors to perform this treatment than any other laser brand. We are the world’s largest Nd: YAG photodisruptor manufacturer, supplying over half of the global market with the Ultra Q™ and Super Q® models. Photocoagulation – Ellex green and multi-color photocoagulators are unparalleled for treating AMD and diabetic retinal diseases. Ophthalmologists and retinal specialists use Ellex photocoagulators to cauterize and remove the unwanted leaky blood vessels that disturb retinal function, as well as to repair retinal tears and detachments caused by those same vessels. Specific models include the Integre Duo™, Integre® and Solitaire™. SLT Photoregeneration – Ellex is the global leader in lasers to treat glaucoma, with more than 1000 glaucoma experts outside of the US choosing to rely on SLT from Ellex. Ophthalmologists use our Tango™ and Solo™ SLT lasers to deliver short pulses of low-energy light that trigger the body’s natural healing mechanisms. This process reduces intraocular pressure (IOP) associated with glaucoma in order to preserve optic nerve function. SLT does not harm the eye and has no side effects, which allows earlier treatment. Innovative Imaging – Ophthalmologists use our high-resolution ultrasound imaging technology to visualize anatomy and structures below the surface of the retina, which is often where unwanted blood vessels and other problems originate. Ellex offers the premium ophthalmic diagnostic ultrasound, the Ellex Eye Cubed™, to image complex ocular structures. |
